In 2017, UC RUSAL and NUST MISiS founded the Institute of Light Materials and Technologies (ILM&T), backed by the Aluminium Association, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Ministry of Education and Science.
ILM&T testing centre services
The Institute focuses on developing high-strength materials for aerospace engineering, advancing additive technologies to create stronger new materials, and engineering heat-resistant compositions rated up to 300 °C.
Other activities include developing a novel aluminium material for tank wagon barrels for transporting concentrated nitric acid and creating a highly weldable aluminium alloy for semi-finished bridge structure products. ILM&T extends beyond these areas, tackling projects aligned with Russia’s modern economic needs.
