St. Petersburg will receive trams with aluminium interiors

At the F.A. Nevsky Electric Transport Plant.The presentation of a new tram model produced by PC Transport Systems, designed specifically for St. Petersburg, was held.

The 71-932 Nevsky double-cabin, three-section low-floor tramcar was designed according to the technical specifications of Gorelectrotrans, a St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise.The total passenger capacity of Nevsky is 205 people.The interior of the tram is made with aluminium alloys, which significantly reduces the fire load of the model, because unlike plastic, aluminium does not burn.In the near future the first train of this model will be handed over to the customer, and by the autumn of this year St. Petersburg will receive another 37 such cars.

Trams model 71-932 "Nevsky" were purchased by the Committee for Transport last year as part of the implementation by "Gorelectrotrans" of a large-scale programme for the development of urban electric transport.This car is a unique technological solution created specifically with due consideration of the infrastructural peculiarities of St. Petersburg.Two cabins and doors on either side of the sides give it the ability to be operated in shuttle mode.During the repair of Ladozhskaya metro station, Nevsky tram cars will go on route No. 30.

The Nevsky tram has an original design: narrow horizontal lines of running lights dominate the overall composition, and modular lighting equipment is located in the lower part of the exterior.

The tram is characterised by a high level of comfort - a spacious interior with panoramic glazing, 52 ergonomic seats, an advanced climate control system, 7 USB sockets, multimedia information systems.The spacious storage area can comfortably accommodate a pram and there is a special bracket for a bicycle.The entrance doors have heated zones to prevent ice from forming at the entrance to the passenger compartment.The tram is adapted for people with disabilities: there is a call button for the driver, a ramp for access to the cabin, and the "safe city" system is also working.

On the technical side, the tram is characterised by improved energy efficiency: by installing more powerful gel batteries, the autonomous driving range has been increased to three kilometres at full load (previously 1 km).Therefore, in the event of a catenary break, the tram will be able to continue operating on the line.Space is also provided for the installation of ionisers, an energy storage system.

The manufacturer paid special attention to driver comfort.The cab has an ergonomically designed seat and the most frequently used buttons are placed on the armrest.All information about the tram's technical condition, as well as data from video cameras, is displayed on the updated console.The tram has a rain sensor, which ensures automatic operation of the windscreen wipers.An active driver assistance system (autopilot) has been installed, which is designed to eliminate human error in the event of emergency situations.

In addition, to assist the driver and improve traffic safety, a system of all-round view of the car was installed, an automatic switch system was integrated, and a system of mobile workstation on a tablet for communication with the dispatcher.Also, the driver now has keyless access to the carriage using a magnetic card and USB sockets have been installed.

The passive safety system installed on the tram reduces the risk of injury to passengers and driver in the event of an accident.The force of the impact is evenly distributed over the body.

A total of 113 trams and 87 trolleybuses manufactured by PC Transport Systems are in operation in St. Petersburg.
