BrAZ Is Undergoing Modernisation with Aluminium Solutions

DKS has manufactured and supplied an aluminium cable tray system for the Bratsk Aluminium Smelter (BrAZ, a RUSAL company). The total length of the cable route is about 800 metres.

The innovative cable trays are installed in the gas treatment units of the pot room as part of the Clean Air federal project. It is anticipated that aluminium cable trays will be used for the retrofitting of other RUSAL facilities. The designer is the Russian Aluminium and Magnesium Institute (RUSAL VAMI).

One of the main advantages of aluminium structures for cable trays is their long service life: at least 30 years in an aggressive environment. Compared to galvanised steel trays, aluminium trays are much lighter, allowing the use of lightweight hardware. Furthermore, aluminium is highly suitable for recycling, which can offset initial costs.

In 2020, DKS and RUSAL signed an agreement on collaboration and cooperation in the development of aluminium solutions. Aluminium cable trays may be suitable for other sectors, including maritime and transport infrastructure, where the material’s lightness and high corrosion resistance are fundamentally important.
