On October 7, 2022, Artem Asatur, Co-Chair of the Aluminium Association, told the participants of the thematic section of the Integration 2022 Eurasian Business Forum about trends in the aluminium and construction markets.
During his presentation to the construction industry representatives from the Russian regions and the EEU countries, Artem Asatur spoke about the activities of the Aluminium Association aimed at removing excessive bans and restrictions regarding the use of aluminium, as well as the successes in the development of aluminium bridge building and its export potential. He noted the importance of an international dialogue to increase the use of innovative aluminium-based materials and technology for the green building sector.
As examples of innovative solutions, the expert cited a pilot project to build schools and kindergartens using a unique block-and-modular technology, as well as Russian know-how in the field of development and production of self-supporting translucent structures, which have already been appreciated by international consumers. Among the promising areas of import substitution, the representative of the Aluminium Association named the production of sandwich panels, extruded sheet aluminium and the development of finishing and painting facilities.
Artem Asatur paid particular attention import substitution and maintaining production in the face of market squeeze and the risks of domestic products being displaced by cheap imports. According to him, Russian companies are ready to meet the needs of the domestic market with a wide product range. The Co-Chair of the Aluminium Association stressed that import duties should be maintained to secure production and technological capacity when domestic demand decreases and the production capacity is underloaded.
