The Aluminium Association took part in the Third International Congress of Environmental Technologies. The event took place during the 18th International Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies for Recycling and Wastewater Treatment (WASMA) at the Expocentre Fairgrounds.
The agenda of the forum's business events includes the most relevant topics for the industry: prospects for developing a circular economy in Russia, investment attractiveness of the industry, creating advanced infrastructure facilities for municipal solid waste (MSW) management, as well as prospects for import substitution, digitalisation, and extended producer responsibility.
Natalia Kudenkova, Head of the Consumer Goods Sector at the Aluminium Association, spoke at the plenary session 'Second Life of Waste: How to Build an Efficient System of Secondary Material Resources Management'. The experts who participated in the meeting talked about measures to improve the MSW management system, which make it possible to achieve predicted results, about creating an efficient system of extended producer responsibility (EPR) to obtain financing for the waste management industry, as well as possibilities of increasing the volume of recycled and reused MSW.
'Proper separate waste sorting and eco-education of children should be a priority. Obtaining high-quality secondary raw materials is, first of all, the raw material security of the country. Therefore, in our opinion, it would be incorrect to postpone preparing the EPR concept implementation documents,' said Natalia Kudenkova in her speech.
