On September 25, 2023, the Aluminium Association and the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association signed a memorandum of cooperation. The collaboration between the associations began in 2016 when the first memorandum was signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The primary objective of both parties is to facilitate direct dialogue between the industry companies to boost the demand for aluminium
The associations will continue their joint efforts to strengthen their dialogue, share experiences to expand the applications of aluminium products, promote R&D cooperation in the aluminium industry, enhance the material and energy utilisation in the aluminium industry, and contribute to a green economy.
“We regard China as a partner for joint industrial projects. Russian aluminium, manufactured using clean, renewable hydropower, has one of the lowest carbon footprints globally and can reduce the carbon footprint across the entire value chain, right down to the end product. This is our advantage. Meanwhile, we have much to learn from our Chinese partners, particularly in terms of innovation and the overall building of a high-tech downstream sector. As part of our cooperation, we plan to host regular events and contacts”, stated Irina Kazovskaya, Chairperson of the Aluminium Association.
The China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA) is a national, non-profit, industrial management organisation that brings together over a thousand companies from the Chinese non-ferrous metal sector. CNIA is involved in industry self-regulation and develops recommendations for the Chinese government, facilitating communication between government bodies and industry representatives to advance the metals & mining industry in China. The Association also issues a range of regular industry and analytical publications and develops industry standards. CNIA comprises 15 subsidiary associations. Each of them works in a specific area such as aluminium, copper, lead, magnesium, scrap recycling, etc.
