12.04.2021 - GC Moskabelmet
GC Moskabelmet is taking part in a photo exhibition titled Moscow Industry for Space!, which marks the 60th anniversary of the first manned space flight. The exposition is presented at two venues — one on Gogol boulevard and one on Tsvetnoy boulevard. The exhibition will be open until April 29.
In the long and varied history of GC Moskabelmet, there have been a lot of episodes of cooperation with the aerospace industry. The aerospace sector relies on some strategic and highly complex facilities, where everything must be delivered exactly to specs, both in terms of quality and deadlines. This means that only the most reliable companies, which can be fully trusted get contracts for aerospace projects.
The photo exhibition tells about deliveries of cable by GC Moskabelmet to the Plesetsk and Vostochny cosmodromes. These involved deliveries of power cables by Zavod Moskabel and fibre-optic cables by Moskabel-Fujikura. A total of about 40 kilometres of cable were delivered.
The Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region dates back to 1957. It was built as the country's first rocket launch site. The first spacecraft, Cosmos-112, was launched from Plesetsk on March 17, 1966. To date, more than 1600 space vehicles have been launched from the cosmodrome's pads, some 2100 spacecraft of various kinds have been put into orbit, dozens of new types of spacecraft and launch vehicles have been tested and adopted. Moskabelmet production sites delivered cables to the cosmodrome in 2017.
The Vostochny comsodrome in the Amur region is relatively young: construction there started only in 2011. April 28, 2016 saw the first successful launch from there, which ended in the delivery of three satellites into Earth's orbit. Moskabelmet delivered its products to this cosmodrome in 2020. If you are interested in space exploration and specifically the development of the aerospace industry in Russia, be sure to visit the Moscow Industry for Space! photo exhibition. You will certainly learn a lot about the contribution of Moscow-based industrial companies to the development of the aerospace industry.
'60 years ago, April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space. However, there were thousands of people that made that first flight possible: engineers, designers, mechanics, researchers. The historic flight would not have been possible without their contribution, professionalism and talent. It was to them that we decided to dedicate our exhibition. Moscow has always been a major centre of the aerospace industry, we've got over 40 aerospace companies based here. At our exhibition, people will not only be able to see some very rare archival photographs, but also learn some interesting facts about the recent history of the industry', notes Alexander Prokhorov, the head of the Department of the Investment and Industrial Policy of Moscow.
The project was prepared by the Department of the Investment and Industrial Policy of Moscow with the support of the state corporation Roscosmos.
The Komsomolskaya Pravada website has launched a section devoted entirely to the exhibition: https://www.kp.ru/putevoditel/spetsproekty/mospromkosmos/
