The construction of the elevated pedestrian bridge is nearing completion in Tula. It will become the first aluminium bridge in the Central Federal District. Theis transportation facility is being built within the framework of the national project on Safe and High-Quality Highways. The bridge span has already been erected, aluminium frames have been mounted on both staircases, they are currently being glazed.
The construction of the pedestrian bridge was ordered by the Tula Ministry of Transport, the project was developed by Morisot company, and the Aluminium Association acts as the coordinator of the project. The overhead pedestrian crossing near the Tula Suvorov School and the Patriot-Tula military-patriotic park has become part of the complex project on construction of the bridge across the Upu River and overpasses over the railway. "
The bridge span is 40 m long, and the width of the walkway is 3 m. The span and staircases were made of aluminium alloys. Aluminium cladding panels and profile glazing systems were also used in the bridge construction.
Aluminium parts with a total weight of 60 tons used in the construction of the bridge were manufactured at the Krasnoyarsk Metallurgic Plant (KraMZ). The plant manufactured the structural elements according to the drawings, and drilled holes for assembly and erection. The aluminium structure was also anodized at KraMZ, and the bridge received the colour matching the one of the Patriot-Tula park main building.
Due to the unique characteristics of aluminium, and, in particular, its light-weight, the bridge structural parts were delivered to Tula by a truck-trailer combination with only four sections, which significantly reduced the load on the road surface. In addition, due to the lightweight of the aluminium span, the construction of the bridge did not require any heavy construction equipment. It should be noted that aluminium structures are designed so that they can be assembled not only by specialists in the aluminium industry, but by any bridge construction company.
The construction of an aluminium overhead pedestrian bridge is bound to be completed in 2020 – with it, the Tula region will become one of the first Russian regions that applied the advanced technologies in the bridge construction.
Commissioning of the pedestrian bridge is scheduled for September 30.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
In 2017-2019, seven aluminium pedestrian bridges were erected in Russia with the active participation of the Aluminium Association: two in the Nizhny Novgorod region, three in Krasnoyarsk and two in Moscow, over the Yauza River. More than 20 projects of bridges with aluminium parts are currently being developed. The Kolomensky pedestrian bridge with the span of more than 30 m became the first aluminium bridge in Russia. This fully welded bridge was built in 1969 over the Griboyedov Canal in St. Petersburg and it is still in a perfect condition.
