Moscow, August 2. The Aluminium Association informs about the approval of GOST 4784-2019 'Aluminium and wrought aluminium alloys. Grades'. The document was approved by the order of Rosstandart dated July 31, 2019. It covers aluminium and wrought alloys, which are designed for manufacture of a wide range of semi-finished products — tapes in coils, sheets, discs, plates, strips, bars, profiles, panels, busbars, pipes, wire rods, wire, forgings and stamped forgings by means of hot or cold working, as well as slabs and ingots. The new standard takes into account scientific developments and practical experience of using aluminium alloys, which have been accumulated over 20 years of application of the former GOST.
The developers of the document were VILS JSC, the leading Institute in the field of new technologies and metallurgical production facilities, and the Aluminium Association.
Based on the proposals of the members and partners of the Aluminium Association, as well as other interested organisations, the new standard was supplemented by more than 50 types of aluminium alloys, which are in demand and used in the construction, energy, mechanical engineering and other industries.
The revision of the standard included the analysis of the chemical composition of aluminium alloy grades, applicable industry standards and specifications used in the previous edition of the standard. The standard was supplemented with alloys that have passed industrial testing in mass production, as well as reference information about the closest analogues of the chemical compositions of foreign alloys.
Updating of the standard will allow using up-to-date high-tech alloys in aluminium and related industries, ensuring the reliability and safety of structures and parts, as well as increasing competitiveness of domestic products from aluminium alloys in the domestic market.
