Moscow, July 22. The Aluminium Association expects aluminium demand to remain at the last year's level this year, with a total market volume of at least 1.71–1.72 million tonnes (including imports of semi-finished and finished aluminium products). Such forecasts are based on the results of activities in the first half of 2019, the main of which include a set of measures of increasing domestic consumption and growth of the domestic market.
It should be noted that in situation of slowing production in the major aluminium-consuming industries (automotive, energy, construction, etc.), consumption of aluminium products continues to grow due to the implementation of the consumption development programme and, as a consequence, increased use of aluminium in all sectors. This is mostly evident in the construction industry, where the benefits of construction materials made of aluminium are becoming increasingly apparent for consumers both in infrastructure projects and in the housing sector, as they significantly improve the quality of life. For example, aluminium structures are recommended for the programme of housing renovation in Moscow. As a result of using modern workable and durable aluminium structures (warm windows, entrance units, suspended facades, baskets for air conditioners, etc.), the consumption of aluminium in new houses will reach 5.6 kg per 1 sq. m (for comparison, in houses before renovation — 1.5 kg per 1 sq. m).
'The developed and approved set of measures for the development of the aluminium industry provides positive outcomes — today we see that aluminium consumption is increasing even in those industries where there is a slowdown in the production growth,' said Valentin Trishchenko, the Chairman of the Aluminium Association.
