Moscow, November 1. The Russian market of aluminium products will reach 2.8 mln tonnes by 2025. Such data were announced by Valentin Trishchenko, Chairman of the Aluminium Association, in his speech at the 7th International Conference and Exhibition 'Aluminium-21/RECYCLING' organised by the Alliance of Aluminium Pressers (APRAL).
According to him, an important component for development may be the transition from raw materials exports to the development of downstream production.
It is possible to achieve almost twofold increase in the market through import substitution, wider application of the metal in industries, developing the exportation of high value added aluminium products. Currently, share share of imported semifinished products remains high in Russia (up to 200,000 tpa). Implementing the roadmap approved by the Russian Government in June 2018 will expand the use of aluminium and domestic high value added products in industrial sectors, including bridge construction, automotive industry, shipbuilding, rail car building, electricity, consumer goods, etc.
'The Aluminium Association equally protects the interests of both primary aluminium producers and recycling companies. Today, state initiatives and activity of commercial companies are aimed at improving the environmental performance of production and reducing resource costs. In turn, we are always ready to initiate actions intended to develop the aluminium industry in Russia and raise the awareness of people about the benefits of separate collection and recycling of aluminium products,' — said Valentin Trishchenko.
