Moscow, March 22. The total market of aluminium products in Russia and CIS countries amounted to 1.7 million tonnes last year. At the same time, Russia accounts for more than 80% of total consumption. These and other results of the aluminium industry were discussed at the annual general meeting of the members of the Aluminium Association. During the meeting, a unified position was developed on the top-priority sectoral issues, including the Association's interaction with international partners, active participation in major investment forums, updating the regulatory framework, stimulating the production of high value-added products, etc.
One of the main topics of the event was the import substitution of aluminium products in Russia and the development of exports. During the meeting, the participants reviewed and adopted the report on the activities of the Association for 2018, and established development plans for 2019. Thus, one of the areas of work will be strengthening of cooperation with the authorities to promote the participation of aluminium companies in public investment projects, including renovation programmes, urban infrastructure renewal, etc.
'The results of 2018 demonstrate that we chose the correct path. On the basis of the Aluminium Association, we managed to unite more than 67% of the total production of high value-added products, which allows the industry to form and promote a consolidated position on a number of important issues, including construction projects, introduction of modern cable and wire products to the domestic market, updating of the regulatory framework, development of new standards. The combination of these achievements, the creation of competence centres for welding, casting production, and the fulfillment of other tasks will increase the volume of the domestic market of aluminium products to 2.2 million tonnes by 2025', said Valentin Trishchenko, the Chairman of the Association.
