Krasnoyarsk, October 17. The installation of the first of two aluminium bridges that are built on the eve of the 2019 Universiade is completed in Krasnoyarsk.
The span structure was installed on Partizan Zheleznyak Street in a short time — for convenience, the installation was carried out at night which did not have a significant effect for the road situation. The manufacturer of span structures was KraMZ, Krasnoyarsk. Stairwells, lighting, elements of the Accessible Environment system and other structures will be installed in the nearest future.
The bridge span structure of 37 m in length is made of 6XXX series strong alloy. Bridges made of aluminium alloys are almost 3 times lighter than steel structures, do not require corrosion protection and are mounted several times faster in comparison with steel bridges (for example, a phased installation of a steel superstructure would take up to 2 days and would require traffic stoppage for this period).
The bridge on Partizan Zheleznyak Street became the first such structure in Siberia and the fifth in Russia. It is planned to install the second bridge on 9 May Street in November. Previously, four aluminum bridges were installed in the Nizhny Novgorod region and in Moscow and it is planned to install new aluminium bridges in Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk region and the Kamchatka Peninsula.
'Aluminium bridges are a truly unique opportunity for our country to improve logistics accessibility and raise security in large cities. In the future, the installation of automobile aluminium bridges will improve transport links between the regions. In large countries, for example, in China, now there is a real boom in aluminium bridge construction, and if Russia becomes part of this trend, the potential effect for socio-economic life of the country is guaranteed to surpass all investments,' — said Valentin Trishchenko, Chairman of the Aluminium Association.
