Moscow, March 19. Participants in the Aluminium Association's meeting regarding expansion of the sales markets and international trade discussed new prospects and incentives to increase the export potential of Russian producers of aluminium products, whose share in the exports of metal products from Russia was 14.2% in 2017.
Sespel CJSC, DZMI, Avial LLC, UC RUSAL, VMK Invest, Uncomtech JSC, AMR JSC, Technopolis LLC, NP Tsentrvtortsvetmet, TATPROF JSC, NP Electrocable Association, Drilling Pipes LLC, AGROSOVGAZ LLC, AL5 LLC, Incompro, MP Council of Production Facilities of Secondary Non-Ferrous Metallurgy, RUS Energy LLC, and the Russian Export Centre took part in the meeting.
During the event, the current condition of the aluminium market, its protection measures, and development prospects for the exportation of domestic products to global markets were considered. Participants in the meeting discussed the Trade Protection Toolkit in the framework of the WTO: tariff (import and export duties) and non-tariff measures (anti-dumping, compensatory, special protective measures).
The global aluminium market steadily grows, according to the Association's experts. In the next 5 years, almost 80% of the increase in aluminium consumption will be driven by extended application in construction, transport, electrical equipment and mechanical engineering. Therefore, developing the domestic market and increasing aluminium consumption in high-tech industries will contribute to a higher level of competitiveness of domestic products both in the Russian and foreign markets.
'The exchange of opinions and expertise is very important. Especially in the aluminium industry, where technologies are rapidly evolving. Events like the one today are a unique opportunity to discuss relevant matters regarding international trade and domestic aluminium market protection,' said Valentin Trishchenko, Chairman of the Aluminium Association.
