Moscow, December 21. The Aluminium Association joined Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), which is an international, non-commercial organisation developing standards oriented towards decrease of negative environmental impact, responsible and open conduct of business and implementing them in aluminium companies.
ASI standards are developed by authoritative world experts and cover all aluminium products production stages: raw material extraction, production of alumnia and primary aluminium, production of semi-finished and finished products, their use and disposal. In 2018, certification of companies for the compliance with ASI requirements will be started.
Among its members are such leaders of the aluminium market as UC RUSAL, Rio Tinto, Alcoa, Norsk Hydro, Arconic, and Emirates Global Aluminium. Its associate members are the professional associations of the USA, Canada, the European Union, Australia, India, the Gulf countries, etc.
As an ASI member, the Aluminium Association will actively promote its principles and criteria among Russian producers of aluminium and products of its high-level reprocessing.
