Krasnoyarsk, April 21. Russia has enough opportunities to significantly replace the import of aluminium products by domestic products by 2020. This statement was made by the Chairman of the Aluminum Association Valentin Trishchenko at a meeting with the companies-consumers and aluminium processors, organized by the Aluminum Association as a part of the KEF-2017. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Industry, Energy and Trade of the Krasnoyarsk Krai Anatoly Tsykalov, the Director of the Department of Metallurgy and Materials of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Pavel Servatinsky, the Deputy Minister of Industry, Energy and Trade of the Krasnoyarsk Krai Vasily Chernov, the Head of the Department for Investment Policy and Territorial Development of the Office of the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District Ivan Goncharov, as well as heads of Boguchany Aluminium Smelter CJSC, Casting and Mechanical Plant "SKAD" Ltd, KraMZ ltd, OOO LPZ "Segal", representatives of UC RUSAL and JETRO (Japanese Organization for the Development of Foreign Trade).
According to the Aluminum Association, about 250 thousand tonnes of aluminium products are imported to Russia now. First of all, it is an aluminium plate, extrusion, housing of light-emitting diodes, etc. "The domestic aluminium industry has sufficient potential to produce such products. Thus, by 2020, it is possible to reduce the import of semifinished products due to the replacement of domestic products by 60-70 thousand tonnes," V. Trishchenko said.
The current situation in the industry, promising projects in the aluminium industry were also discussed at the meeting. The discussion participants paid serious attention to aluminium bridges, which would also be requested in the Krasnoyarsk Krai. It was also noted that for the growth of the economy it is necessary to develop the production of high value-added products.
Following the meeting, the Aluminum Association arranged for related parties to visit and get acquainted with the production capacities of Casting and Mechanical Plant "SKAD" Ltd – the largest wheel manufacturer of aluminium wheels. During the trip, a working meeting was held at the factory with a presentation of the company, discussion of the prospects for the development of technologies, production and export of high-value aluminium products. Also, a direct acquaintance with the production cycle and capacities of the enterprise was organized: machining workshop, paint line, quality control and finished products. Representatives of the Japanese company JETRO, the Head of Rosstandart Alexey Abramov and the Director of the Department of Metallurgy and Materials of the Minpromtorg of Russia Pavel Servatinsky took part in the trip.
In addition, the presentation of the Krasnoyarsk Technological Valley was organized, during which the advantages of this technological cluster were demonstrated to the potential participants and investors of the project.
Working meetings between the Chairman of the Aluminum Association Valentin Trishchenko and the Head of KraMZ Andrey Bersenev and the Head of Sial group Leonid Kiselev were also held during the trip.
