Samara, September 26. At the moment, only a quarter (about 900 thousand tonnes) of aluminium produced in the country is processed by Russian facilities. At the same time, there is dependence on imports, mainly cast products. Such data were announced during the meeting of the Aluminium Association with the Government and production facilities of the Samara region in the framework of the international exhibition and forum 'Industrial Salon. Metalworking' held at the Volga-Expo Exhibition Centre in Samara.
Doubling the volumes of deep processing of aluminium will increase the contribution of the aluminium industry to the country's GDP to 2.5%. This requires taking a set of measures for the development of existing and the establishment of new production facilities. Thus, the load of existing production capacities is quite high (for example, it exceeds 85% for rolled products, foil and casting), while the need for new capacities will continue to grow in the coming years.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Samara region, as well as heads of production facilities of the region and public organisations. The parties agreed to cooperate in the implementation of projects on the introduction of innovative technologies and the use of modern aluminium solutions in mechanical engineering, aviation, agriculture and other sectors of the economy of the Samara region.
The meeting included the signing of an agreement between the Aluminium Association and the Samara regional branch of the All-Russian public organisation of small- and medium-sized businesses 'OPORA RUSSIA', aimed at strengthening cooperation between manufacturers and consumers of aluminium products, implementing new technologies into the business processes of the region.
'We need to attract resources to stimulate the manufacture of high-value-added products. I am sure that the meeting will give a boost to new ambitious projects that contribute to the development of industry in the region', said Mikhail Zhdanov, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Samara region.
