The third aluminium pedestrian crossing in the city has beeen commissioned in Krasnoyarsk. Unlike the two previously opened ones, the bridge across Nikolaevsky Prospekt, which connected Studenchesky District with school No 73 and the Yudin estate museum, is completely glazed and equipped with elevators.
The bridge length is 62 m, the width is 3 m, the height is 4 m, and the total weight of the aluminium structure is around 43 tonnes. The bridge consists of two spans 19 and 43 m long. The aluminium bridge structures are made of AD35T1 alloy with colourless anodising.
Like the two previous bridges, this one was created at the Krasnoyarsk Metallurgical Plant. In general, the technology of aluminium structure production has not changed at KrAZ: large-sized extrusions are pressed from aluminium alloy and are further used to produce parts – gussets, corners and ties, which ensure the rigidity and stability of a structure.
Most structures are produced at the advanced 5-axis processing centre made in Italy. It allows producing parts from pressed extrusions with a high precision. The precision with which the structural elements are made makes it possible to save time when assembling the bridge – there is no need for additional adjustments.
To increase the corrosion resistance of the structure and give it the architectural look envisaged by the project, the parts were hardened and anodised at the plant. The bridge spans were assembled in the non-standard equipment repair and manufacture shop under drawings of the customer – Giprostroymost, Ulyanovsk.
Today, Krasnoyarsk is the leader in Russia in terms of the number of installed aluminium pedestrian bridges. The pilot projects for the city were pedestrian crossings near the Arena Sever ice palace and the ice arena along Partizan Zheleznyak street, built for the 2019 Student Games. Today, Krasnoyarsk prepares two more projects for constructing aluminium bridges. It is planned to start construction and installation operations at one of them as early as in December. The project of one more bridge on Semafornaya Street – it will become the sixth in Krasnoyarsk – undergoes expert examination now.
KraMZ's experience in bridge building turned out to be in demand abroad. The production facility manufactured two inventory pedestrian bridges by order from Germany this year. The temporary crossings across the water reservoir, consisting of eight 6-meter aluminium sections with a total length of 24 meters, connected the banks of the Murg River in Rastatt, Germany. In May this year, a permanent aluminium pedestrian bridge was erected instead of this prefabricated structure, also produced at KraMZ.
