Moscow, February 14. The annual general meeting of members of the Association of Producers, Suppliers and Consumers of Aluminium was held today at International Trade Centre in Moscow. During the meeting, the Association's annual report and its financial statements for 2019 were approved, pertinent issues were discussed, and decisions were made about the further development and functioning of the Association in 2020.
The meeting participants also approved the Strategy for the Development of the Aluminium Association in 2018–2023, with updated targets for 2020. The main areas of the adopted strategy are: The promotion of aluminium consumption on the domestic market, the implementation of a standardisation programme, and the removal of regulatory and legal restrictions on the use of aluminium solutions, the training of highly qualified personnel for aluminum-consuming industries, the implementation of measures to combat counterfeit products, the introduction of stricter requirements for the environmental friendliness of production equipment and materials, as well as for product quality.
Among the main organisational issues were the election of a new Board of Directors and its Chair, as well as the re-election Management Board members. Alexander Zazhigalkin was elected Chair of the Association's Board of Directors.
Mr Zazhigalkin noted: 'The team of the Aluminium Association has so far done a huge amount of work to expand the uses of aluminium in all key sectors of the Russian economy. These efforts include improvements to the regulatory framework, the establishment of relations between various sectors of the economy, and, which is extremely important in the current situation, the popularisation of aluminium as one of the most technologically advanced and promising metals. My job is to further expand upon these areas of activity, offer maximum support for the launch of new aluminium-based products on the market, improve cooperation between industries in order to boost our export potential.'
In addition, changes were made to the make-up of one of the Association's sectors. Pavel Moryakov (GC Moskabelmet) headed up the Energy Sector.
During the meeting, seven new companies were allowed to join the Association. These are JSC Akron Holding, LLC MetalImport, Tsvetlit Cable Plant, MasTTech, CompositeProm, Ural-Siberian Extrusion Company and AL-PROFI. Meanwhile, three legal entities: LLC Master, JSC Tsvetlit and PROFI-T SPB were expelled from the Aluminium Association. Thus, the total number of companies-members of the organisation has reached 115.

Alexander Zazhigalkin (b. 1969), Candidate of Legal Sciences, member of the Academy of Quality Problems, Chair of the Aluminium Association. Mr Zazhigalkin has obtained two higher education degrees, one military and one legal. He has authored over 70 research publications and text books on standardisation and innovation. He possesses vast experience in applied research and teaching. He is a 2nd Class Active State Advisor of the Russian Federation. Mr Zazhigalkin has received numerous state and industry awards. Since 2016, has been the Head of the Centre for Innovative Development, a branch of Russian Railways OJSC. Since February 2020, he has been the Chair of the Aluminium Association's Board of Directors.
