Yekaterinburg, July 12. The aluminium manufacturing plants of the Sverdlovsk Region are able to manufacture virtually any semi-finished aluminium products on their own and substitute all imports with their own products. This statement was made by the Aluminium Association Chairman, Valentin Trishchenko, at the meeting on advanced aluminium processing in the Sverdlovsk Region, organised by the Aluminium Association as part of INNOPROM.
According to Mr Trishchenko, to date, 3.5 thousand tonnes of semi-finished aluminium products are imported to the Sverdlovsk Region.
“The potential of the region’s aluminium companies allows not only to substitute imports, but also to export our products,” he highlighted, offering the support of the Aluminium Association in this matter. “One of the main problems faced by domestic manufacturers is the lack of information, and we as an Association act as an effective platform for communication among companies in the sector,” Valentin Trishchenko said.
The session was attended by Pavel Servatinsky, Director of the Metallurgy and Materials Department at the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. He spoke about the progress of the action plan to stimulate demand for high-added value aluminium products for 2016–2017, and highlighted future prospects for the sector.
Roman Andryushin, UC RUSAL's Sales Director for Russia and CIS, on his part, underlined that the effect of developing the aluminium market in Russia will imply a number of positive outcomes. These include further GDP growth of 1%, 30 thousand new jobs, an increase in aluminium consumption to 12 kg per person per year, the development of state-of-the-art technologies.
The session was attended by representatives from ARCONIC, AMR, as well as the Sverdlovsk Region's enterprises, such as KUMZ, Kluchevskiy Ferroalloy Plant, Kamensk-Uralsky Foundry Plant, ROSTECHCOM, EVRAZ NTMK, Cable Alliance Holding Corporation, etc.
