Moscow, 21 March. The Aluminium Association is opposed to extending agreements of imported goods, intended for the industrial assembly of motor vehicles in Russia. The corresponding letter stating the Association’s position and proposal was sent to the Ministry of Economy Development in Russia. The Chairman of the Aluminium Association, Valentin Trishchenko, announced this at the meeting with automotive associations and institutions. Leaders of CRO NP ‘SPETSAVTOPROM’, NAMI, AII, and MSTU all took part in the work.
“The system of preferential import of auto parts negatively affects the level of production localisation and impedes import substitution and development of the automotive industry in our country”, explained Mr Trishchenko. In this regard, the Association considers it necessary to develop new mechanisms of support for the automotive industry in Russia.”
The ongoing collaboration of the association was discussed at the meeting, and prospective areas for cooperation were scheduled for 2017-2018. Among the most important outcomes of the partnership, the following were noted: the creation of the North-West Federal Competence Centre (together with NAPAK), the participation in the development and design of an aluminium frame for urban transport (together with AII), the work with leading car manufacturers on localisation of engines (together with OAP), and a host of other projects. The sides agreed to expand collaboration, including participating in join activities, organising working groups from among the association’s experts to focus on current problems and other prospective activities.
