Yaroslavl, October 17. The Aluminium Association will promote creating regional centres of competencies in aluminium alloy welding and develop advanced aluminium welding technologies for needs of various industries. This was declared at the strategic session 'Production Cooperation Development' arranged as part of the Yaroslavl Region Industry Day.
Vladimir Bakshaev, Head of CJSC SESPEL, a member of the Aluminium Association creating the first Russian centre of competencies in aluminium welding, noted in his address at the session that the key functions of the Association in this process would be 'uniting key aluminium welding competencies, creating a base of production and scientific centres of competencies for all main types of aluminium welding for needs of the construction industry, aviation, transport engineering, car making, shipbuilding, and other industries.' Functions of a centre of competencies will include performing complicated technical operations relating to welding of aluminium structures, efforts to update regulatory documents in the field of aluminium welding (creation of industrial standards, GOSTs, etc.), and carrying out laboratory researches with respect to weld quality and materials. 'Within our functions, we will also provide consulting services in aluminium welding, render assistance in equipment selection, and plan to create a training centre to train personnel in aluminium welding and issue relevant certificates,' said V. Bakshaev.
The forum was attended by major industrial companies of the Yaroslavl Region representing the aircraft engineering, shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, engine building, and other industries.
