Cheboksary, September 25. The Aluminium Association is ready to offer the Chuvash Republic leadership a number of projects on the development of the production of aluminium semi-finished products on the territory of the Republic. This was stated by the Chairman of the Aluminium Association Valentin Trishchenko during the seminar "Creating Competence Centres for Aluminium Welding" held in Cheboksary. According to him, it is possible to create absolutely new production for Russia, for example, off aviation containers. He also considers the production of aluminium hothouse complexes to be a promising area. "These projects are aimed at import substitution and development of aluminium products consumption in Russia," he said.
The head of Chuvashia Mikhail Ignatiev, who took part in the seminar, supported the proposals of the Aluminium Association stressing that the development of import substitution and export are priorities of the state policy of the Russian Federation. "We need to produce products under the brand "Made in Russia" ourselves rather than supply raw materials," he said. Mikhail Ignatiev proposed to use and develop the potential of production facilities located in the Republic, to train experts for the aluminium industry at the Chuvash State University, and to develop new products and equipment for aluminium processing engaging Cheboksary Engineering Centre.
Sespel Company presented at the seminar an innovative technology of aluminium welding with friction stirring actively introduced into production. According to the head of the company Vladimir Bakshayev, thanks to the friction stir welding technology, the quality of the welded joint has reached a fundamentally different level. During the business trip to the Sespel Company production, the seminar participants were able to see the advantages of FSW technologies in comparison with other types of welding.
The seminar participants also visited the site of the machine-building faculty of the Chuvash State University where the University specialists presented their friction stir welding equipment developed by them.
The seminar was attended by more than 120 people representing 65 production companies, including members of the Aluminium Association - Arkonik Russia, Sespel, UC RUSAL, a number of scientific, research and design centres, representatives of the aviation, space, shipbuilding, machine building and other industries, as well as leaders of the Chuvash Republic, branch and professional associations.
