The outdoor site of the International Exhibition Centre Crocus-City Expo held a traditional festival 'We are Together for Road Safety!' dedicated to the opening of the moto- and bicycle season in the Moscow suburbs.
The event is intended to improve the road behaviour culture of two-wheeled vehicle owners. Everyone got lucky with the opening of the season! Despite the 'orange' alert of the Hydrometcentre (weather forecasting agency), the morning was warm and sunny.
The programme was intensive and focused on different ages. Preschoolers, schoolchildren and students, motorcyclists and car drivers, children and adults – everyone could become a spectator and a participant in the interactive contest programme. The same site hosted the bicycle race 'Living in Sports' organised by the regional public organisation Union of Pensioners of the Moscow Region and Velomotors company.
The competition included races in various nominations. In the Eldest Participant category, a bicycle was presented to Gennady Struev, a 85-year-old cyclist from Mytishchi.
The winner of the ‘Velo Lady’ nomination, Tamara Lomasheva, 73 years old, Serpukhov, said: ‘I liked it very much! I received a white folding Stels bicycle as the prize’. We were very glad that side-by-side with pensioners we could see teenagers and even 4-year-old children on cross-country bicycles, pupils of the Bicycle Sport Federation of the Moscow Region.
The participants used Pilot-410 folding bicycles that proved their practicality and reliability once again. The winners were awarded with five new Stels bicycles which became a worthy prize for the pensioners. They expressed their gratitude to the Velomotors company for supporting the first festival 'Living in Sports'.
Next year, it is planned to hold the Bicycle Festival where young athletes will participate along with pensioners. The Region's Ministry of Sports and various large commercial structures agreed to support the initiative of the Union of Pensioners of the Moscow Region and the Velomotors company.
