Alexandra Kalita and Roman Sklyarenko, SERCONS, became participants of the Russian-Korean Business Forum that took place in Rostov-on-Don in April. They told event participants about specific features relating to certification of products intended for sale in the Customs Union and also presented the company's services.
The forum was organised by the Government and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Rostov Region. The event was attended by representatives of 20 companies from the Don Region and 14 companies from the Republic of Korea dealing with mechanical engineering, agriculture and food production.
In 2017, the foreign trade turnover of the Rostov Region with the Republic of Korea amounted to USD 18 mln. Imported goods include machinery, chemicals, textile products, etc. SERCONS experts told representatives of the Korean companies about the procedure for confirming product conformity that must be observed to be able to sell goods in Russia. They explained specific features relating to confirmation of product conformity to the EAEU requirements: which countries are members of the Union, what the difference is between the certification and declaration, how long permissive documents have effect. They raised the issue of choosing a certification authority without which it is impossible to confirm conformity.
'It is important that the organisation that will help a producer or distributor in certification issues holds relevant accreditation and competent specialists. The procedure will be faster if the organisation has its own testing laboratory with relevant equipment. We strongly recommend when choosing a certification authority to check organisations in the register of Rosaccreditation and to request information about the availability of a proprietary testing centre’, said Alexandra Kalita, Deputy Head of the Rostov Branch of SERCONS.
