COVID-19 has spread across the globe. Half of Europe, Asia and some countries on other continents are in quarantine to prevent further spread of the threat. These measures are urgent and hit many economies hard, especially those dealing with export and import.
According to the adopted rules sales are impossible without certification in the Customs Union. Here is when Sercons comes in and brings a verdict, which products will be released for free circulation in the Customs Union and which goods will stay by the manufacturer. However, visiting productions abroad amidst the pandemic associates with health risks not only for an expert but also for his or her family and team. This is why the management of the company took the following decision:
‘Certification experts will not travel to countries on lockdown effective today. It makes an issue of new mass production certificates impossible. The ban does not spread over all countries. In this regard we follow recommendations of the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism and epidemiology reports, as the situation may change any time. At customers’ requests managers of our company provide a detailed list of banned countries daily,’ – says Irina Leonova, technical director of Sercons.
A solution has been found for imports from affected regions. As it is impossible to analyse serial production under such circumstances, each batch or single article passing the customs will be certified.
Manufacturers will incur huge expenses, however, an alternative is far from being nice: if the manufacturer refuses from working in such a manner, it will not be able to bring the goods into the Russian market, which will entail even bigger losses.
