Moscow, February 28, 2019 — RUSAL (trading code 486 on Hong Kong Stock Exchange, RUAL on Moscow Exchange), one of the world's largest aluminium producers, announces the start of the 'Green Wave' grant contest for gardening and landscaping.
As part of the contest, organisations and initiative residents can offer their ideas on landscaping and improvement of local urban spaces. The maximum grant amount for the implementation of each winning project is RUB 50,000.
Representatives of municipal institutions, non-profit organisations, educational institutions, as well as teams of initiative citizens and corporate volunteers are invited to participate in the contest. In their competition applications, participants must submit a project for improvement of a park, square, alley, boulevard, street, yard or territory adjacent to a social or educational institution. Grant funds can be used to purchase seedlings of trees or shrubs and necessary garden equipment for their planting.
'Since the beginning of the programme in 2017, more than 2,000 volunteers of all ages have participated in the 'green' projects. Active citizens together with their families and friends have planted more than 7,000 trees. The grant initiatives have helped create house gardens, partially or completely restore parks and squares, improve the most popular street spaces in 14 cities of Russia. The 'Green Wave' contest is becoming a good tradition gradually changing cities for the better, and we will be happy if more people join this tradition', said Vera Kurochkina, Deputy CEO.
Since February 25, presentation meetings and seminars on social design will be held for potential participants in the cities of the contest.
Admission of applications for the project will last from March 4 to March 25 on the online platform grants.fcsp.ru.

The 'Green Wave' contest is implemented within the framework of the RUSAL's social programme 'Helping is Easy' aimed at the development of corporate and citywide volunteering. The programme also includes a grant contest of volunteer initiatives 'Helping is Easy', environmental marathon 'Day of the Yenisei' and 'Day of the Chulym', new year's charity marathon 'Believe in a Miracle, Create a Miracle!', as well as the partnership project 'National Council for Corporate Volunteering'.
