In late April/early May, Aluminium Metallurg Rus, one of the largest aluminium kitchenware manufacturers in Russia, presented three new Kalitva collections. Three lines of non-stick frying pans, stewpots and baking trays with intriguing names – Dream, Sandy and Violet – are designed for both beginner and advanced chefs.
AND AGAIN A5
Kalitva cookware has won various awards at international and national contests, for its functionality, eco-friendly features and perfect design. Customers also appreciate the performance and appearance of the cookware. The company released its major collections back in 2016, and the last line – Ikon Star – was released at the end of 2019. Then, finally, three novelties appeared at once – Dream, Violent and Sandy, three lines of non-stick cookware.
“Aluminium utensils fall under the FMCG category – i.e. fast-moving consumer goods,” says Valeriya Smagina, Kalitva’s chief marketing expert. – Customers now often buy cookware in supermarkets – along with other basic goods – and change it every one to three years. The reason for replacing a pan is most often a damaged non-stick coating. "
TASTES DIFFER
All three lines of cookware are manufactured from primary aluminium cast by the Krasnoyarsk aluminium smelter. This is perfectly understandable as the A5 alloy ensures high quality and product safety. All cookware manufactured by AMR is tested in the company’s laboratory – the most important parameter to be checked the coating reliability as it provides for its safety and long service life.
Dream line is a new category for Kalitva features a rolled surface with a tap bolt. 3 mm thick cookware with a rolled non-stick coating provides for the optimal weight and resistance to sticking for easy cooking without excess oil. The handle is tightly connected to the body with a tap bolt thus excluding the risk of loosening during active use.
Sandy line utensils are deep frying pans and stewpots. With their easy-to-clean surface, you won’t need to waste extra energy on washing dirty surfaces, and due to the bakelite handles you will be able to move the pots easily without any risk to get burned.
Violet line cookware has a new pattern on its bottom and a famous Chemours non-stick coating (Belgium BVBA). Such pans are suitable for beginner cooks, because they are very simple and convenient in use.
In all three lines, stewpots have the diameters of 24 and 26 cm; Sandy and Violet frying pans are 16, 18, 22, 24 and 26 cm in diameter, Dream frying pans – 22, 24 and 26 cm. The most popular sizes are 24 and 26 cm – it is a so-called "family" format. But the sales of the 16-18 cm sized cookware are also going up – young families and bachelors tend choose pans and pots of this smaller size.
WHAT'S IN A NAME?
While designing new products, the company tried to take into account market requirements, new trends, and most importantly – to provide customers with affordable and high-quality cookware. Therefore, a three-millimetre pan was fitted with a rolled coating, which is usually used on inexpensive thin pans, and a tap bolt an aluminium fastener usually used for more expensive cookware.
“We can say that we have turned an expensive frying pan in an economy “dress”,” says Valeria Smagina. “Such a combination is a good way to balance the price and make a good value-for-money offer for forged cookware of the mid-price segment.”
Actually, the English names of the three new collections of cookware have a transparent hint of premium brand. Indeed, according to marketing experts, a Russian buyer believes that it is from the West that comes all the most technically perfect and therefore expensive products. So whether it’s true or not, it’s not for us to judge, but probably “Мечта”, “Песчанка” and “Фиалка” would have sold worse than Dream, Sandy and Violet.
Nevertheless, the price for new Kalitva products fall under the economy segment level - 800-1000 roubles. New arrivals are already available at the Kalitva’s distributors.
