16.03.2023 - N.E. Moscow State Technical University
Bauman Moscow State Technical University (MSTU is a member of the Aluminium Association) and OMODA automotive brand jointly hold OMODA Student Cup competition for students of technical universities. Contestants are invited to modernise the futuristic OMODA C5 fastback crossover.
Entries are accepted both personally and from teams of up to five people. Individual participants and team captains must be adult students of Russian higher education institutions studying in specialised fields, and team members can be both students and young professionals under the age of 35.
The first stage requires contestants to show their creativity by proposing updates to the exterior of the crossover using a model presented in three-dimensional format. The professional jury of the competition included leading Russian designers Yuri Chernenko and Sergey Barinov, as well as representatives of influential media - editor-in-chief of Za Rulem magazine Maxim Kadakov and editor-in-chief of Techinsider Alexander Grek. The jury will examine student work in terms of innovation, technology and design. Based on the results of this evaluation, the best project will advance to the finals. The second finalist will be selected by popular vote.
The final stage will be held in Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Moscow Region, at the production site of KBM ICITC. The participants will have real OMODA C5 cars at their disposal and modify them according to their own designs.
In autumn 2023 both works will be presented in Moscow, everyone will be able to see the result of the participants' work in person. The final vote between the two finalists will take place on OMODA's Telegram channel. The results will be announced on 15 October, with the winner taking the improved car for themselves.
The competition will introduce future specialists to the automotive industry, advanced technologies in the industry, as well as the values, products and ideological concept of the OMODA brand, including the O-LAB project - a series of unique online lectures about the future of the automotive industry.
"In addition to substantive familiarisation with advanced developments in the modern automotive industry, participation in technical competitions gives students the opportunity to put their skills in construction and industrial design into practice and demonstrate their vision of the car of the future. It is difficult to overestimate the importance for a future specialist of working with a real car in a competitive environment," says Dmitry Onishchenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the E-2 Department of N.E. N.E. MSTU. Bauman, Head of the Automotive sector of the Aluminium Association.
