On May 17, an already customary meeting was held between the management of JSC VNIIKP (All-Russian Scientific Research and Development Cable Institute) and the young scientists and specialists at the Institute.
In the framework of this on-site meeting, an excursion to the Podolsk Site of VNIIKP was arranged for the young specialists. The programme included visits to the Fire Safety Testing Centre, the Department of Superconducting and Cryoresistive Wires and their Production Technologies, the Department of Binding Wires for Installation and Cables with Mineral Insulation, an excursion to the Expocable plant, and a visit to the renovated High Voltage Testing Centre. The young specialists were highly impressed by the specific features and innovative methods used in advanced cable testing.
It is not the first time that VNIIKP is holding this kind of meeting, since it considers this a priority to develop the creative initiative of the institute's young scientists and specialists, engage them in the work on the current objectives in advanced science, and establish friendly relations among colleagues.
'The meeting was very informative and showed the young people the scale of our Institute. We visited other departments and were able to see with our own eyes the testing equipment, which we've heard so much about. It was especially interesting to see the unique facility for production of enamelled wires and superconducting cables. We were impressed by the capabilities of the High Voltage Testing Centre. We are grateful to the Expocable employees for showing us all the phases of cable production and the relevant equipment. For me, the most important part was seeing the advanced section of the continuous vulcanisation line for production of wires and cables with rubber insulation and sheathing,' said Maria Syaileva, the Chairperson of the Council of Young Specialists and Scientists of JSC VNIIKP.
The next event involving the new generation of scientists at the Institute will take place in autumn — young specialists representing VNIIKP will take part in a major scientific conference that will be held in Alushta from September 23 to 28.
