October 16, 2019 the NAMI State Research Centre of the Russian Federation hosted the opening ceremony for the MANF 2019 international automotive research forum on technologies and components of smart land-based transportation systems.
The guests and participants of the forum included representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology, the Government of Moscow and automotive companies. Other participants of the forum included representatives of leading Russian universities, automotive academic science, leading foreign R&D centres specialising in automotive manufacture. In total more than three hundred people took part in the forum.
Welcome address to the participants and guests of the forum were delivered by FGUP NAMI CEO Sergey Gaisin, the head of the Department for the Automotive Industry and Railway Engineering of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Pak, the head of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (ROSSTANDART) Alexey Abramov.
Organisations taking part in the forum included NP GLONASS, PAO KAMAZ, GAZ Group R&D Centre, FNAZ VIM, Volvo Cars, Robert Bosch, Siemens Industry Software, AVL List GMbh, the Associations of Automakers of Russia, the Associations of Automotive and Transport Engineers, the National Research University of the Higher School of Economics, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, R. Alekseev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University, Irkutsk National Research Technical University, Moscow Automotive and Road Construction State Technical University, Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, the Environmentally Friendly Transport/Green Car technology platform and others.
The first day of the forum featured the plenary session 'Intelligent Transportation Systems. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow' as well as a number of panel discussions on such topics as: 'Development of the legal framework for autonomous vehicles and assessment of the safety of motor vehicles and equipment for self-driving vehicles', 'Prospects for development of new modes of transportation, transport flow management systems, systems for enabling communication between vehicles, infrastructure and people', 'Training of human resources in promising transport development disciplines'.
All the participants in the event could see a special exhibition that this year comprised of innovative motor vehicle designs developed by FGUP NAMI. Naturally, the exhibits that drew most attention were the sedan and limousine built on the basis of the shared AURUS modular platform. A large portion of the exhibition consisted of promising designs developed by FGUP NAMI as part of the research and development project for development priorities for the research and technology sector of Russia in 2014–2020. The exhibition also featured booths from such partners as National Instruments, Rohde and Schwarz RUS, Keysight Ansys.
