Employees of Samara Metallurgical Plant won the first round of the XIX All-Russian Contest 'Engineer of the year — 2018' in the category 'Nonferrous metallurgy'. Dmitry Galyashin, the leading design engineer of the extrusion operations design group at Arconik SMZ, was awarded the title 'Professional Engineer of Russia'. Ilya Latushkin, the leading specialist in setup of equipment and tools at Arconik SMZ, became a winner in the category 'Engineering Art of the Young'.

'Engineer of the year' is an annual all-Russian contest to identify the best engineers, the elite of the engineering profession, popularise their work, promote the achievements and experience of the best engineers of the Russian Federation. This year, the contest was participated by more than 70 thousand people from 58 regions of Russia. The awarding ceremony took place on February 19 in Moscow.
