On September 29, 2020, the Aluminum Association's will host an on-line conference "New Standards of the Aluminum Industry for Sustainable Development." Trends in the decarbonization of the world economy are now on the rise. Climate change, along with other sustainable development issues, is under the spotlight of responsible companies in all industries. For aluminium companies, the development and implementation of technologies that increase resource and energy efficiency, and reduce the environmental impact is a key condition for survival. This is largely due to the focus of the leading industrialized countries on achieving carbon neutrality and greening of their economies. On key markets, there are growing demand for low carbon footprint and environmentally friendly materials and products.
ASI is a standard-setting and certification organization that defines globally applicable standards for the aluminium value chain on sustainability performance and material chain-of-custody. Standards are developed and improved in collaboration with industry players, consumers and non-profit organizations. The standards cover 11 groups of criteria, including climate and environmental impact, business ethics, corporate governance and human rights. The conference will provide a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about the prospects for ASI certification, as well as the benefits of the ASI certification for increasing business and products’ value domestically and globally.
